Thanks for all the interest and supportive comments.  I would like to work on this design some more.  Maybe going triangular or crescent shaped is not the best choice.  I bought an ebook recently called
Shaping Shawls by Anna Dalvi .  I think I will take a look at it and see if I am inspired.  I don't really want a rectanglar shape but that may be the easiest to use with this stitch pattern.  Thanks for all your suggestions.
